Quesada brings Canada its first nationwide Birria-inspired menu — a limited-time lineup of tacos, burritos, bowls, nachos and quesadillas
Quesada Burritos & Tacos is set to bring birria fever to Canada – becoming the first national banner to bring the popular birria style of slow-braised meat to Canadians coast to coast. Today, the banner launched a lineup of five menu items featuring the flavour that originated in the cultural heart of Mexico but has now enamoured the entire world.
This new limited-time lineup, available in taco, burrito, quesadilla, nacho or bowl formats, is headlined by Quesada’s slow-braised Beef Barbacoa and new Pulled Shiitake Mushroom. Cooked in a savoury and tangy marinade with chiles and spices, the result is a rich, easily shreddable and delicioso melt-in-your-mouth source of protein, which is accompanied by a range of fresh toppings and salsas.
A key feature of this new lineup is Quesada’s special Birria sauce – a side dip that is also used to slather-up the tortilla before pressing it, which is perfect for dipping the tacos, burrito, and quesadilla, or for pouring over the bowl and nachos to enhance the meal’s flavours. While inspired by the authentic Jalisco, Mexican dish, Quesada’s Birria lineup has been crafted specifically for the Canadian palate.
“Our goal was not to replicate authentic birria but to introduce its unique and craveable flavour to customers who may have never experienced it before,” says Jason Baker, the Vancouver-native chef who, along with colleague Ilona Spudas, co-leads Quesada’s culinary team. “Our goal was not to replicate the authentic stew you’d find in Jalisco, but to create a flavour adventure that introduces the richness of birria to anyone walking into a Quesada, whether they’re trying it for the first time or already love it.”
The duo and their team have worked tirelessly over several months to capture the heart of birria’s flavour in a way that aligns with the Quesada brand promise of fresh, delicious, and accessible Mexican-inspired cuisine.
