This summer, not every sports fan is heading to the stadium.

As a packed season of baseball and international soccer unfolds across Toronto, many Canadians are creating their own game-day traditions at home, from backyard watch parties and patio gatherings to cottage weekends centred around the big match.

Steam Whistle Brewing is seeing the trend firsthand.

Beginning June 15, Steam Whistle is launching its limited-edition Can Jerseys, available in specially marked six-packs in LCBO, The Beer Store and select grocery and convenience retailers. Inspired by the excitement and camaraderie of game day, the collectible can-sized jerseys are designed to help fans bring a little extra team spirit to every watch party, tailgate and summer gathering.

The launch comes as Steam Whistle prepares for nine straight days of tailgates at its historic Roundhouse from June 22 to 30, where thousands of fans are expected to gather before and after matches and games throughout the city.

“Sports have always been about bringing people together, and that doesn’t only happen inside a stadium,” says Emma Naster, General Manager of the Steam Whistle Roundhouse. “Whether you’re cheering from the stands, hosting friends in your backyard or watching from a patio, Canadians are finding new ways to celebrate the moments that bring us together.”
